چکیده

Abstract The anodic oxidation (AO) of 30 pharmaceuticals including antibiotics, hormones, antihistaminics, anti-inflammatories, antidepressants, antihypertensives, and antiulcer agents, in solutions containing different supporting electrolytes media (0.05 M Na2SO4, 0.05 M NaCl, Na2SO4 + 0.05 M NaCl) at natural pH was studied. A boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrode a stainless-steel were used as anode cathode, respectively, three current densities 6, 20, 40 mA cm?2 applied. results showed high mineralization rates, above 85%, all the tested electrolytic media. 25 intermediaries produced during electrooxidation identified, depending on electrolyte together with formation carboxylic acids, NO3?, SO42? NH4+ ions. intermediates chloride medium an increase absorbance. Finally, real secondary effluent spiked treated by AO applying 6 mA cm?2 without addition electrolyte, reaching c.a. 90% after 300 min, energy consumption 18.95 kW h m?3 equivalent to 2.90 USD m?3. degradation scheme for mixture emerging contaminants both is proposed. Thus, application generates concentration hydroxyl radicals that favors present sample.

Degradation of common pharmaceuticals and personal care products in mixed solutions by advanced oxidation techniques

Widespread detection of pharmaceutical compounds in water environment has been a serious concern recently, while conventional sewage treatments are ineffective for their elimination. But, advanced oxidation techniques are very promising to remove varieties of organic contaminants in water. This research aims to elucidate oxidation potentials of sixteen commonly used pharmaceutical compounds in ...

Simultaneous determination of lead, cadmium, copper and zinc in Infant formula by anodic stripping voltammetry

Determination of trace elements in food is of great importance, as some of them have nutritional significance, whilst others are toxic. Long-term exposure to low levels of toxic metals could be important, especially in relation to children. Differential Pulse Anodic Stripping Voltammetry (DPASV) is applied to simultaneous determination of lead, cadmium, copper and zinc in dry ash infant formula...

Perchloroethylene Analysis by Chemical Oxidation and Determination of Intermediate Products by Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry

Abstract Background and Objective: Perchloroethylene (PCE) is a chlorinated hydrocarbon used as a solvent in many industrial processes. In contaminated water and soil a great deal of PCE is found. This study aimed to determine the rate of decomposition of PCE occurred after advanced oxidation. Material and Methods: In this descriptive-analytic study conducted (2011) in public health faculty...
